Sledding The West is dedicated to promoting
the great sport of snowmobiling!

As we travel the West, we find experts that really know their stuff. Experts like Amber Holt from Backcountry Basics, Wayne Inman from Oregon Search & Rescue and Jeff Moberg, President of the Wyoming State Snowmobile Association. These people have spent years in this sport. They have great information that can make riding much more fun and safe for all of us.

Over the next few months we will be compiling the information they
give us and we will post it here for all our viewers. Expect to see articles,
lists, videos and much more. See below for a couple of examples.

Thank you!

Trail Hand Signals

This will be part of our safety section:

Survival Pack List

Thanks to Wayne Inman.

We will add one more item to this list that an expert, that wishes to remain anonymous, told us. When you read the addition to Wayne's list, you will see why he wished to remain anonymous. However weird, we believe it is a wise addition. If you are stranded, you will need to be able to get a small amount of gasoline out of your fuel tank to start a fire with. Yes, you can just tip over the sled and pour it out. This would be messy and very problematic. OK, here is the weird tip. Carry a women's tampon in your emergency pack. I think you can imagine how this can easily soak up the gas when dipped into the tank and would make a great fire starter under twigs.
Next we will have videos on "Off Trail Riding", and "Tips For Maintenance". Check back soon!
